About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Oncology Chemo Certified Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 9.5 Experience: Required: One year of clinical experience in intravenous nursing or equivalent background in an oncology, medical-surgical, critical care, or home infusion setting. Preferred: Two years of oncology-focused intravenous nursing, including the administration of chemotherapy, biotherapy, immunotherapy, and blood products. License: Required: BLS/CPR. Completion of the oncology-specific CEUs is required each accreditation cycle to support the Cancer Center’s accreditations. Chemotherapy/Biotherapy certification required within six months of hire. Certifications: Preferred: Oncology Nurse Society certified (OCN). Must-Have: Proficient in the care, maintenance, and accessing of central lines. Description: The position requires experience in administering chemotherapy and biotherapy. Administrating blood products and other relevant medications is essential. Individuals must possess competencies in managing various cancer diagnoses. Skills in accessing and managing ports, as well as recognizing and managing side effects, are critical. Understanding isolation precautions and PPE requirements in oncology settings is necessary. Candidates must be able to coordinate care effectively with interdisciplinary teams. Knowledge of oncology-related medication and treatment protocols is required. Ability to monitor chemotherapy and manage any associated complications is crucial. Proficiency in intravenous hydration and administration of various therapies is important. Candidates should have experience in handling cytotoxic spills safely and effectively.
