Shift: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM

Experience:

• 12 months of experience with 3 months worked in the last 12 months.

• 18 months of Medical Surgical Float Pool experience.

• Experience with Epic is preferred.

• Experience with Cerner is preferred.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have a Alabama license or compact license (required after submission).

• This role may require floating to additional units and locations

• Travel only, local not allowed. Candidates must live >60 miles from facility to be submitted.

• 6 months gap required between for Staff at Program: SimpliFi Program - Baptist Health UAB and no current placement allowed at Program: SimpliFi Program - Baptist Health UAB.

Additional Details:

Required Skills/Experience: - First-time travelers allowed if they have at least 18 months of MedSurg experience with Epic or Cerner experience.

Preferred Skills/Experience: - Chemotherapy experience strongly preferred.

Special Requests: - You can only have 1 active application for the same position (same unit and shift at the same facility). Example: if you apply for day shift, you can also apply for night shift on the same unit and facility, but you cannot apply for another day shift position on the same unit and facility. - Former staff must be gone for 6 months before returning as a traveler, measured from last shift worked to start date. - Requested time off is not contractually guaranteed prior to arrival. Baptist blackout 2026 RTO dates during this assignment window: Labor Day weekend 8/30-9/1; Halloween 10/30-11/2.

Unit Details: - Units in the pool include 6 North Trauma Surgical (general surgery and vascular surgery patients, 1:5-6 ratios, wound care, chest tubes, NGT, IV skills, medication administration/documentation, and escalations), 5 South Neuroscience (CVA, TBI, seizure, AMS, spinal fusion, craniotomy, degenerative diseases, post-trauma, angiogram; 1:5-6 ratios; IV starts, central line blood draws, trach care, PEG, NGT, colostomy/ostomy, wound care, chest tube, surgical site care, C-collar, abdominal binders, restraints), 5 North MedSurg/Oncology (MedSurg/oncology, palliative care, ETOH withdrawal, all patient types except stroke and MI; 1:6 ratios; trach care, chest tubes, PEG tubes, wound care, drains, foleys, IV starts; chemotherapy administration if certified; telemetry monitored by tele techs, and RNs interpret and confirm strips every 4 hours), 4 South Clinical Decision Unit (general MedSurg including COPD, CHF, diabetes, MRSA, VRE, C-diff, COVID, pneumonia, renal failure, sepsis, UTI, end-of-life comfort; 1:5-6 ratios; tracheotomy care, suctioning, O2 therapy, ostomy care, Foley care, external catheter care, PEG/NGT care, wound care, chest tubes, central line care, restraints), 3 South Orthopedics (orthopedic and spine patients including joint replacements, fractures, fusions, laminectomies; 1:5 ratio, or 1:6 if MedSurg; PCA pumps, negative pressure dressings, dressing changes, Foley care, hemovacs, JP drains), and 3 North MS/Ortho/Urology (urology, ENT, orthopedics, and MedSurg patients; 1:5-6 ratios; trach care, wound care, wound vacs, IV starts, CVL dressing changes). - Uses Plum 360 IV pumps, Omnicell, and Spacelabs monitors.

Shift & Scheduling: - Flexible contract hours: 36 or 48 per week. - Every other weekend or 4 weekend days per month. - No call. - One major and one minor seasonal holiday per policy.

Floating Requirements: - Any like unit/patient location (MS-MS, MS-ICU task, MS-ER/MS holds; ICU-ICU, ICU-MS task or limit of 3, ICU-ER/ICU holds).

10 days maximum time off.
