PT Seasonal Lifeguard

Seasonal LifeguardsThe Town of Newton is looking for seasonal Lifeguards, responsible for ensuring the safety of facility patrons by preventing and responding to emergencies. This role reports both the Pool Manager.The season will run from mid-June through Labor Day.Responsibilities:Recognize and respond quickly and effectively in emergencies.Enforce all aquatic facility policies, rules and regulations.Inspect the facility and report any unsafe conditions or equipment to the supervisor.Complete records and reports.Participate in regular in-service training sessions.Maintain fitness level (swimming skills, strength and endurance).Complete additional duties as assigned by supervisor.Qualifications:• Minimum Age of 15 (American Red Cross prerequisite) • Current certification or will have received certification by 6/13/2025 in the following:American Red Cross Lifeguarding and First AidAmerican Red Cross CPR/AED for the Professional RescuerPre-Season testing of lifeguarding knowledge and skillsSwimming skills test: Complete a 300-yard timed swim in 3 minutes 30 seconds Tread water holding a 10lb diving brick with both hands for 2 minutes Surface dive and recover an object from 9ft. depthThorough knowledge and application of lifeguarding surveillance and rescue techniques An understanding of facility characteristics, rules, policies, and procedures (training provided). Leadership and public relation skills (training provided). Decision making skillsMiscellaneous Information:We will be conducting telephone, virtual and in-person interviews for this position.
