Research Fellow (Asphalt Pavement Materials) University-Level Unit: College of Design and Engineering Faculty/Department-Level Unit: Civil and Environmental Engineering Employee Category: Research Staff Location: Kent Ridge Campus Posted On: 12/06/2026 Job Description The National University of Singapore (NUS) Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering invites application for one (1) Research Fellow position in the area of resilient and circular asphalt pavement materials. The candidate is expected to work in research projects related to the topic funded by the Defence Science and Technology Agency of Singapore. The candidate will be working with Associate Professor Ong Ghim Ping Raymond from the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, College of Design and Engineering (CDE)( in fundamental and translational research in the development of new asphalt pavement design guidelines. The selected individual is required to: Perform laboratory and field experiments on circular resilient airport asphalt pavements as core focus. Work on mechanistic empirical pavement design and modelling for airports. Develop state of the art solutions for high performance pavement system and work closely with contractors and agencies on field construction implementation to ensure solution is commercially viable. Manage research project progress, grant administration, and finance. Work on other relevant tasks set out by the project PI. Job Requirements Possess a PhD in Civil Engineering or a related area. Applicants with relevant experience in both experimental and field asphalt pavement design, standard development and construction would be favourably considered. Strong written and spoken communication and has the ability to present research findings in publications and professional meetings (including with agencies and the industry).
