Radiation Oncologist

Department of Radiation Oncology and Applied Sciences (DROAS) – Radiation Oncologist Position The Department of Radiation Oncology and Applied Sciences (DROAS) at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center seeks a full‑time radiation oncologist to serve at partner locations in Lebanon, NH, and St. Johnsbury, VT. Candidates with an interest in brachytherapy are encouraged to apply and would join an established brachytherapy program. DROAS is a member of the Dartmouth Cancer Center, one of the original NCI‑designated cancer centers, and is affiliated with the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth College. The program is ACR accredited, a long‑standing member of NRG/RTOG (Lead Academic Participating Site), and a full member of Alliance/ECOG‑ACRIN. Faculty include multiple physician‑scientists with wet and dry labs. The department supports a fully ACGME‑accredited medical residency program and a CAMPEP‑accredited medical physics residency program. Responsibilities The successful candidate will serve as a generalist radiation oncologist, using state‑of‑the‑art technology including an MRI Linear Accelerator (ViewRay), Varian HDR, and Vision RT. Responsibilities include: Confirming diagnoses and developing and delivering treatment plans using external beam radiation therapy, including IMRT, IGRT, and stereotactic techniques. Conducting, monitoring, and adjusting radiation treatments and providing pharmacologic management and lifestyle counseling as indicated. Participating in call coverage as required, rotating with other specialists to provide consistent coverage during nights, weekends, and holidays. Maintaining administrative and record‑keeping duties related to clinical practice. Engaging in research collaboration with faculty at the Dartmouth Cancer Center, Dartmouth College, Geisel School of Medicine, Thayer School of Engineering (medical physics), and the Dartmouth Institute. Core Responsibilities and Requirements Conduct tests and examinations to confirm diagnoses. Execute radiation treatments such as external beam radiotherapy, IMRT, IGRT, and stereotactic treatments. Develop treatment plans with appropriate therapeutic techniques and drug dosages. Monitor patients' progress consistently. Provide pharmacological treatment and appropriate lifestyle recommendations. Demonstrate prior experience treating and diagnosing cancer patients. Show adequate knowledge of radiation therapy procedures and techniques. Display effective verbal and written communication skills. Exhibit a compassionate and empathetic demeanor. Be able to practice on a per‑diem “as‑needed” basis across several locations in New Hampshire and/or Vermont. Required Licensure / Certifications Board Certified or Board Eligible in Radiation Oncology. Must obtain and maintain a medical license in the states of New Hampshire and Vermont.
