As a result, it is not recommended to select Autofill with Resume when applying if using a resume or CV which exceeds one (1) page.* Prior to submitting your application, please review and update (if necessary) the information in your candidate profile as it will transfer to your application.## Job Title:Livestock Evaluation Program Coordinator## Department:FAES | Animal SciencesThe Department of Animal Sciences in the College of Food, Agriculture, and Environmental Sciences at The Ohio State University seeks to employ an individual in a 12-month Lecturer position that would provide leadership to the department’s livestock evaluation and selection program and serve as coach of the Ohio State Livestock Judging team. This position will have a teaching emphasis with the responsibility of teaching livestock evaluation approaches to undergraduate students. Instruction includes courses aimed at preparing students for livestock evaluation. Additional teaching responsibilities and student advising is expected and will depend on departmental needs and the applicant’s area of disciplinary expertise. Collaboration with other faculty and staff in youth extension programming is required. The successful candidate will contribute to the educational mission of the department through teaching of undergraduate courses and outreach education and will serve as coach of the Ohio State Livestock Judging teams. Evening and weekend travel is required. The successful candidate is also expected to collaborate with faculty and staff providing leadership for 4-H, FFA, and other youth programs in recruiting prospective students to the Ohio State College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences. Furthermore, the successful candidate is expected to provide oversight for strategic utilization and growth of endowed and non-endowed funds that provide the funding to support livestock judging team activities. Engagement with industry stakeholders is expected. Our college has a rich history of livestock judging alumni who were members of the Ohio State competitive judging teams, as well as other stakeholders, who value livestock evaluation experiences as an important aspect of the educational endeavors of the department and college.**Performance Objectives**1. Advance livestock evaluation programming2. Coach of the Ohio State University Livestock Evaluation team 3. Contribute to the Department’s academic mission through the teaching of up to 8 credit hours of undergraduate courses per year.4. Advise undergraduate students.5. Work collaboratively with faculty and staff in extension programming, with a focus on youth extension programs.6. Demonstrate an ability to cultivate inclusive learning environments.7. Provide oversight and strategic utilization of funding in support of team activities and identify new revenue streams.8. We are one college spanning three campuses: Columbus, CFAES Wooster, and Statewide. Our CFAES Wooster campus includes a large research station and Ohio State’s only two-year academic unit, Ohio State ATI. The Statewide campus includes 11 research stations and Extension offices in all of Ohio’s 88 counties. Our At a Glance provides additional information regarding our size, capacity, and impact as a college.**Department Information**The Department of Animal Sciences is based on two campuses in Ohio: one in Columbus and the other in Wooster. There are 35 faculty and 85 staff that deliver the research, teaching, and Extension programs of the department. Approximately 530 undergraduate students and 55 graduate students are enrolled. Undergraduate students can choose from seven Animal Sciences minors and three major degree specializations including Animal Biosciences, Animal Industries, and Veterinary Technology. The Department offers a robust graduate program that awards MS and PhD degrees. The Department aims to increase the economic profitability of agricultural animals and the quality of their products through the departments priority areas that include: 1) Nutrition and the Microbiomes, 2) Growth and Development, 3) Health and Disease, and 4) Welfare and Human-Animal Interactions.
