Position Summary 

The Shift Lead is responsible for supporting daily restaurant operations, leading crew members during assigned shifts, delivering exceptional guest experiences, maintaining food quality standards, and ensuring the restaurant operates safely, efficiently, and profitably. 

Shift Leads are working leaders who lead by example while actively participating in food preparation, guest service, cleaning, and operational execution. 

Key Responsibilities 

Leadership & Team Development 

• Create a positive, respectful, and safe work environment for team members and guests. 
• Lead by example through professionalism, accountability, and strong work ethic. 
• Direct and support crew members during assigned shifts. 
• Delegate tasks appropriately and ensure completion of daily checklists. 
• Assist with onboarding and training of new employees. 
• Provide coaching and feedback to team members to improve performance and consistency. 
• Communicate shift updates and operational concerns to management. 

Operations 

• Open and close the restaurant according to company procedures. 
• Ensure all food, beverage, and operational standards are consistently followed. 
• Monitor staffing levels and workflow during peak business periods. 
• Maintain accurate shift notes and communicate important information to management. 
• Ensure all assigned tasks are completed before the end of each shift. 
• Assist with catering preparation and execution when required. 

 

Guest Experience 

• Deliver exceptional guest service and create a welcoming atmosphere. 
• Resolve guest concerns professionally and efficiently. 
• Ensure all orders are accurate, complete, and prepared to Poke Northwest standards. 
• Promote a culture of hospitality and community engagement. 

Food Safety & Quality 

• Prepare menu items according to company recipes and portion standards, including commissary kitchen items 
• Ensure proper food handling, storage, labeling, rotation, and sanitation procedures. 
• Monitor product freshness and quality throughout each shift. 
• Maintain compliance with all health department regulations and food safety requirements. 
• Ensure sushi-grade seafood, produce, and ingredients are handled according to company standards. 

Cash Handling 

• Follow all cash handling and deposit procedures. 
• Process transactions accurately and responsibly. 
• Maintain accountability for drawers and shift reconciliation when assigned. 

Cleanliness & Maintenance 

• Maintain clean and organized workstations, dining areas, restrooms, and storage areas. 
• Ensure opening, mid-shift, and closing cleaning procedures are completed. 
• Report equipment issues or maintenance concerns to management promptly. 

Requirements 

• Previous restaurant or food service experience preferred. 
• Leadership experience preferred. 
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills. 
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. 
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds. 
• Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
