Job Description: CNC Maintenance Mechanic II, Portland, CT, F/T Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM – Typical work week: 40-45 hours. We're seeking an experienced CNC Maintenance Mechanic II to support manufacturing operations serving the aerospace and defense industries. This hands-on role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving CNC machinery and other production equipment to maximize uptime, quality, and efficiency. The ideal candidate will have extensive CNC troubleshooting experience and a strong background in electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.

Responsibilities:

• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on CNC machines, production equipment, motors, conveyors, pneumatic systems, and mechanical equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems to minimize downtime.
• Diagnose equipment malfunctions using precision measuring and testing instruments.
• Remove, repair, and replace defective components using hand tools, power tools, hoists, and cranes.
• Install, relocate, and commission shop machinery and manufacturing equipment.
• Adjust and calibrate machinery, controls, and mechanical systems to ensure proper performance.
• Partner with production teams to coordinate maintenance activities and support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Fabricate or modify repair components as needed to support equipment reliability.
• Maintain spare parts inventory and coordinate with vendors for specialized repairs and replacement parts.
• Document maintenance activities and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.

Desired Background/Skills:

• High School Grad or GED.
• Minimum 8 years of CNC troubleshooting and repair experience.
• At least 5 years of experience troubleshooting and repairing electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Experience performing preventive maintenance on manufacturing equipment and machinery.
• Experience working with vendors and processing purchase requisitions for maintenance-related materials and services.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and technical troubleshooting skills.
• Experience supporting CNC machining operations in aerospace, defense, or other precision manufacturing environments.
• Familiarity with PLC-controlled equipment and industrial automation systems.
• Welding, fabrication, or machining experience.
