Mechanical Design Engineer

On-site Rochester hills. Face to face Position Summary : RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide mechanical design and development of new products or product enhancements for the automotive service tools industry. Must be able to perform in a team environment with engineers from other disciplines and nationalities.
- Prepare thorough and accurate documentation for release to manufacturing and for internal product design records.
- Test and validate products to assure product performance and quality.
- Work with manufacturing and service personnel to resolve problems and improve manufacturability and serviceability of products.
- Develop or modify manufacturing processes.
- Work with other groups on value engineering initiatives to reduce product cost and or improve performance of designs.
- Develop and understanding of the company's products and their applications.
- Provide administrative support for Engineering Computer systems.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering with a minimum of 2 years' experience in Design Engineering environment.
- Hands on experience in automotive maintenance and repair is preferred.
- Must be proficient in the use of the computer for design. Autodesk Inventor CAD experience is preferred.
- Up to date knowledge in mechanical design
- Basic understanding of complementary technical disciplines, particularly electronics
- Able to work with others and with minimal supervision.
- Must possess excellent communication skills.
- Must possess good time management and organizational skills.
- Must possess good problem solving and analytical skills.
- Must be able to demonstrate initiative.
- Prefer to have practical experience in manufacturing processes and equipment.
- Project management and customer interface experience is a plus.
