Automation Department Manager

Customer-Facing Leadership Role

Salary Range: $80,000–$130,000 (based on experience)

Bonus: Annual bonus based on department profitability

Travel: Some travel required (paid per diem)

Relocation Assistance: Negotiable during interview process

Position Overview

The Automation Department Manager will lead a team of approximately five highly skilled individuals , many with strong personalities and deep technical knowledge. Success in this role requires the ability to unify the team, earn trust, and lead through influence ,whileremaining actively involved in project execution and customer engagement.

This is notadeskjob . The ideal candidate is a “doer” who is comfortable working directly with customers, troubleshooting systems, supporting the team in the field, and driving results.

TechnicalFocus

• Approximately 80%controlsandsystemautomation , 20%robotics
• Strong hands-on experience with:
• PLC programming
• HMI development
• Industrial equipment automation and system integration
• Ability to provide technical leadership, guidance, and oversight to the automation team
• Sales and technical experience sufficient to support customer proposals, scope development,KeyResponsibilities

Skills& Competencies

• High schooldiplomaorGEDrequired.
• College degree and/or minimum 5 years of industrial or commercial automation experience

• Proficiency in MicrosoftOffice(Word,Excel,PowerPoint)

* Operate computer-assisted engineering or design software or equipment to perform engineering tasks.

* Prepare technical drawings, specifications of electrical systems, or topographical maps to ensure that installation and operations conform to standards and customer requirements.

* Direct or coordinate manufacturing, construction, installation, maintenance, support, documentation, or testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, or customer requirements.

* Compile data and write reports regarding existing or potential electrical engineering studies or projects.

* Perform detailed calculations to compute and establish manufacturing, construction, or installation standards or specifications.

* Prepare specifications for purchases of materials or equipment.

* Estimate labor, material, or construction costs for budget preparation purposes.

* Supervise or train project team members, as necessary.

* Conduct field surveys or study maps, graphs, diagrams, or other data to identify and correct power system problems.
