Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough mental health assessments for elderly clients to identify their unique psychological and emotional needs.
  • Provide one-on-one and group counseling sessions, focusing on support strategies related to aging, grief, and life transitions.
  • Develop personalized treatment plans in collaboration with diverse healthcare teams to ensure a holistic approach to each resident's care.
  • Facilitate educational workshops for families and staff to promote effective strategies that enhance the emotional well-being of geriatric individuals.
  • Manage grief counseling sessions for clients and their families, offering support in navigating end-of-life issues.
  • Implement cognitive and therapeutic activities designed to stimulate mental acuity and emotional resilience in elderly clients.

Patient Population / Client Focus

This role primarily involves working with elderly clients, including those struggling with various mental health challenges such as depression, anxiety, and trauma associated with aging, loss, and transition. Our focus is on offering empathetic and culturally sensitive counseling tailored to the diverse backgrounds and experiences of our senior clients.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling from an accredited institution.
  • Current and valid Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) credential.
  • A minimum of four years of clinical experience working specifically with geriatric populations.
  • In-depth knowledge of evidence-based treatments and interventions tailored to the elderly.
  • Exceptional communication skills, demonstrating the ability to engage and connect with senior clients effectively.
  • Demonstrated empathy and cultural sensitivity to support clients from various backgrounds.
  • Strong assessment and analytical skills to design and implement effective treatment plans.
  • Awareness of ethical standards and legal considerations in geriatric counseling.

Preferred Experience

  • Additional training or specialization in geriatric mental health or aging-related issues.
  • Proven track record in delivering effective counseling and support services to elderly individuals facing complex mental health challenges.
  • Experience in utilizing telehealth platforms and technology to provide remote counseling.

Compensation and Benefits
