Job Title: P-TECH Science Teacher

Role Overview:

We are seeking an innovative, collaborative Science Teacher to join our Pathways in Technology Early College High School (P-TECH) program. Under the general supervision of the School Principal, the ideal candidate will bring science to life through project-based learning, connecting core academic concepts to real-world industry applications. You will play a critical role in guiding students as they work simultaneously toward their high school diploma and a STEM-focused associate degree.

Key Responsibilities:

• Curriculum Delivery: Design and teach engaging, rigorous science curriculum (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or Earth Science) that aligns with state standards and P-TECH career pathways.
• Project-Based Learning (PBL): Develop and facilitate hands-on, interdisciplinary projects in collaboration with other STEM educators.
• Industry Integration: Partner with higher-education faculty and industry mentors to bring workplace skills, guest speakers, and real-world problem-solving into the classroom.
• Student Support: Foster an inclusive, supportive environment that builds students' academic confidence and professional "soft skills," ensuring they are prepared for college-level coursework.
• Progress Tracking: Monitor student performance, provide individualized feedback, and adapt instructional strategies to meet diverse learning needs.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning.
• Maintains familiarity with district and State standardized tests for the purpose of adapting curriculum to maximize student achievement on such tests.
• Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research.
• Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
• Coordinates with other professional staff members, especially within grade level, and participates in faculty meetings and committees.
• Performs other related tasks as assigned by the administrator and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles.
• Knowledge of a wide range of science subject areas, including general science, earth science, biology, physiology, chemistry, physics, and other related areas (e.g., mathematics).
• Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans.
• Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
• Ability to use computer network system and software applications as needed.
• Ability to organize and coordinate work.
• Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
• Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.

Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards:

• Works in standard office, collegiate and school building environments.

Travel Requirements:

• Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or higher in a science discipline or Education
• Valid state teaching certification in Secondary Science.
• Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation.
• Demonstrated experience or strong interest in project-based learning and STEM education.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across high school, college, and corporate environments.
• A passion for educational equity and supporting students from diverse backgrounds.
