Locum Tenens Gastroenterologist

Job Description Seeking an experienced Gastroenterologist to provide locum tenens coverage. The provider will supplement GI call coverage, inpatient consults, ED, and scheduled procedures. This position requires night coverage with on‑call duties and 15 days a month of inpatient consults. Coverage Dates: October 7th, 2024 - January 1st, 2025 Ongoing Availability: Provider must have ongoing availability for 2 weeks per month. Position Details: Practice Setting: Hospital‑Based (Sparrow Main only) Onsite Lab: Yes Onsite X‑Ray: Yes Outpatient Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine: Not required Average Number of Office/Clinic Patients Per Day: 0 Average Number of Hospital‑Based Patients Per Day: TBD Documentation System/EMR: Epic Trauma Level/Designation: Level 1 Required Procedures: Colonoscopy, Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) Required Types of Upper GI Endoscopy: Diagnostic, Therapeutic with Biopsy, Foreign Body Removal Support Staff: Inpatient APP provided No NP/PA support in surgical cases Call Details: Call Ratio: 1:4 Shifts: 24‑hour shifts (including carrying the pager at night) Unrestricted Call: On the days working inpatient, unrestricted call in the evening Patient Volumes: Day: 20‑22 patient encounters (5 follow‑ups, 10‑12 new patients, 2‑4 procedures) Night: Typically called into the hospital 1 in 7 nights while on call Inpatient Surgical Cases: 2‑4 per day Schedule: Onsite Hospital Coverage: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM Call Back: Per hour of patient contact hours after 8 hours M‑F Weekend Call Rate: 24 hours Sat/Sun with 4 hours gratis Credentialing Timeframe: Estimated: 90‑120 days Requirements: Provider must take an Epic training prior to start (waiver available with years of experience) Orientation prior to start is required Within 30 days of start: physical and 5‑panel drug screen (not reimbursable) Requirements: Board Certified/Board Eligible: Required (need to be boarded within 5 years of training) MI License: Required, no exceptions Clean Malpractice and Background: Required, no exceptions COVID Vaccine: Required, note at time of name clear DEA: Verbal confirmation required at name clear #J-18808-Ljbffr
