About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical/Surgical/Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Registered Nurse License Certifications: BCLS Must-Have: Experience in Med/Surg and Telemetry Description: RTO after booking is not allowed and cannot be worked out onsite. Any call-offs or additional RTO on the unit may turn into a cancel and DNR. Traveler experience is accepted for first-time travelers. Must be proficient in MED/Surg and Telemetry remote monitoring. Skills needed include interpretation of dysrhythmias and IV insulin protocols. Experience in colostomy care, feeding tube care and management is required. Must be familiar with pre/post hemodialysis management and blood product administration. Candidates should be capable of central line blood draw and peripheral line care/management. Phlebotomy proficiency is necessary along with PICC line management. Starting IVs and managing heparin and PCA are essential skills. Experience with chest tubes (Emerson/Pleuravac) is required. Knowledge of non-invasive airway management, oral suctioning, and oxygen face masks is expected. Familiarity with portable oxygen tanks and isolation precautions is needed. Experience in wound care, including wound vac management, is required. Target nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:5-6. Contract staff may be assigned to work during a catastrophic event or disaster. Floating within the facility may be required. Weekend shifts will be expected based on unit needs. Daily patient diagnoses include dementia, diabetes, COVID, pneumonia, COPD, sepsis, encephalopathy, GI bleed, anemia, and hip fractures. The unit has an isolation area for COVID patients and provides multi-level care. Patient age groups include adults and geriatrics. Daily census is approximately 41 patients. Interdisciplinary support includes IV teams, respiratory services, and pharmacy. All candidates must pass EKG testing prior to start for this specialty.
