Job Description
Registered Nurse (RN) - Emergency Room (ER)

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Emergency Room (ER) is responsible for delivering direct patient care and demonstrating competent clinical practice. This role involves triaging patients, collecting patient histories, assessing vital signs, and providing immediate care in life-threatening situations in the absence of a physician. The RN will care for both acutely ill patients and those with non-acute conditions, utilizing various nursing procedures and assisting physicians during their interventions. Furthermore, the RN is committed to providing physical and psychological comfort to patients, their families, and visitors, along with offering discharge and follow-up instructions.

Key Responsibilities

• (25%) Perform nursing assessments, intervene appropriately and promptly, and participate in care planning.
• (25%) Regularly assess patient needs and provide skilled nursing services as prescribed by the physician's authorized plan of care and accepted nursing standards.
• (20%) Accurately and promptly process physician/provider orders, ensuring thorough follow-up on medication changes and order clarifications.
• (15%) Evaluate the effectiveness of treatment plans and suggest or facilitate modifications to enhance patient care.
• (15%) Actively participate in updating and revising treatment plans in collaboration with other healthcare team members, utilizing current information.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in the Emergency Room (ER).
• Preferred travel experience.
• Preferred experience with Epic electronic health records.
• Active Michigan nursing license.

Certifications Required

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from American Heart Association.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from American Heart Association.

This position mandates the ability to work in a fast-paced and often stressful environment while managing multiple types of patients and sophisticated medical equipment. The RN will not be required to participate in on-call duties.
