State of New York - Information Technology Services (ITS)


The New York State Information Technology Services (ITS) is seeking a Senior Software Developer to support the DTF Modernization (Tax Modernization) Program . The selected consultant will participate in the design, development, testing, implementation, and maintenance of enterprise tax applications using Java/J2EE technologies in an IBM development environment. The consultant will also provide technical guidance, mentor team members, and ensure delivery of high-quality software solutions.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, test, implement, and maintain enterprise Java/J2EE applications.
• Develop software using Java, J2EE, Spring Framework, JSON, JavaScript, JDBC, DB2, XML, and XQuery.
• Analyze business requirements and prepare detailed technical design specifications.
• Perform unit testing, debugging, and code reviews.
• Support software migration and deployment activities across development and testing environments.
• Mentor junior developers and provide technical leadership.
• Participate in issue analysis, troubleshooting, and defect resolution.
• Collaborate with business users, ITS management, and project teams to deliver business priorities.

Required Skills / Experience / Education:

• 60 months of experience with J2EE technologies , including EJB, JDBC, JSP, and XML .
• 60 months of experience with Java programming in an IBM development environment using IBM Rational Application Developer (RAD) deployed to WebSphere Application Server (WAS) .
• 60 months of experience working with IBM DB2 databases, including XML schema definition, querying, and automated generation.
• 60 months of experience in performance tuning applications interacting with databases.
• 36 months of experience with IBM MQSeries .
• 60 months of experience providing technical design, development, maintenance, and end-user support for tax systems .
• 60 months of experience in system analysis and design for multi-tier transactional systems and preparing technical design specification documents.
