The selected candidate will be required to work on-site, full-time at our Palmdale, CA location.Note: Due to the classified nature of the work being performed, this position does not offer any virtual or telecommute working options. Applicants are encouraged to apply only if they are willing to work on-site.Roles and responsibilities will include but not be limited to:Perform as Linux Systems Administrator for a medium to large sized classified program.Communicate effectively at all levels of the organization, with internal and external customers, in written and oral format.Maintain smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, including coordination with network, software, and system engineers, PC desktop technicians, project managers, end users, and customer and IT management.Support multiple networks; ensure necessary administration tasks are completed.Work closely with System Engineering and other team members to develop recommended system improvements, upgrades, and solutions.Recommend and implement system enhancements to improve performance and reliability of systems, including installing, upgrading/patching, monitoring, problem resolution, and configuration management.Administer backup and recovery services; manage file systems and disk space; manage virus protection on a routine basis.Create and maintain user and computer accounts and modify file permissions and security access lists.Test new releases of products to ensure compatibility and minimize user impact.Develop and document technical processes and procedures as needed.Make recommendations to purchase hardware, software, and system components.Interact, meet, discuss, and troubleshoot issues with team members, suppliers, customers, and vendors.Adhere to strict Information Systems security guidelines in all cases.Maintain security audit and logging information on all networked and standalone computers in a classified environment as directed by the Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM).Prepare security documentation for input to Computer Security.Report on project status as required for all recurring and non-recurring efforts.Work under minimal direction and independently determine and develop approach to solutions.Lift equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.Work after hours and weekends as needed.This position may filled at a higher level based on the qualifications listed below.Basic Qualifications for Level 3:Associate's degree and 7 years of relevant experience OR Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of relevant experience OR Master’s degree and 3 years of relevant experience; a High School diploma or equivalent and 9 years of related experience may be considered in lieu of a completed degree.Candidates must have a current US Government Secret security clearance (at a minimum) to be considered Candidates must have the ability to obtain access to Special Programs as a condition of employment, maintaining Special Programs access will be a condition of employmentCurrent Security + CE (or greater) certification OR the ability to obtain certification within 6 months of hire date.Must have Linux Operating Systems support experienceLinux Workstation and Server management experience is requiredBasic Qualifications for a Level 4:Associate's degree and 10 years of relevant experience OR Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of relevant experience OR Master’s degree and 6 years of relevant experience; a High School diploma or equivalent and 12 years of related experience may be considered in lieu of a completed degree.Candidates must have a current US Government Secret security clearance (at a minimum) to be considered Candidates must have the ability to obtain access to Special Programs as a condition of employment, maintaining Special Programs access will be a condition of employmentCurrent Security + CE (or greater) certification OR the ability to obtain certification within 6 months of hire date.Must have Linux Operating Systems support experienceLinux Workstation and Server management experience is requiredPreferred Qualifications:Active Top Secret, SCI, SAP/SAR access, or PolygraphSecurity+ CE certificationExperience installing, configuring, and maintaining computer hardware in a networked environment.Experience with architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and existing HPC systems. Strong knowledge of HPC technologies, storage, parallel processing, and scientific computing frameworks. Experience building and maintaining high scale distributed systems and running scalable distributed application software. Come join us!CIDOPrimary Level Salary Range: $103,600.00 - $155,400.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $129,300.00 - $193,900.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
