This position works under general supervision of physician, mid-level provider and/or nursing supervisor to provide nursing services in care and treatment of patients.

Required Education Graduate of NLN approved nursing program

Experience 1 year experience of Operating Room RN experience

Licenses and Certifications (NLC) NURSING LICENSURE COMPACT-BNE or Current Texas license or (BLS) BASIC LIFE SUPPORT course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC). Preferred Scrub experience Orthopedics, Spine, Urology OR experience

Assess and document physiological, psychological sociocultural and spiritual health status of patient on admission utilizing age- age specific concerns for children, adolescents, adults, and older adults. Perform ongoing assessment of patient's physiological health status during intraoperative phase. Communicate relevant health status data to other team members and departments. Interpret health status data to anticipate patient's family, and physician's needs and expectations. Develop appropriate plan of care for patient. Utilize critical thinking skills in planning and prioritizing intraoperative nursing care. Identify and implement appropriate intraoperative nursing interventions based on health status data. Complete accurate and timely documentation of these interventions. Confer with all members of health care team in collaborative fashion, sharing information and observations of patient and/or patient's family in manner that contributes to optimal patient care. Evaluate implemented interventions and modify care according to evaluation. Document interventions and modifications to plan of care in accurate and timely manner. Prioritize intraoperative nursing interventions per patient's health status data, physician, and planned procedures as applicable. Adhere to appropriate hospital policies, procedures, and standards of nursing practice while delivering intraoperative nursing care. Provide appropriate and timely patient education to patient and/or patient's family. Complete accurate and timely documentation of education provided. Demonstrate effective communication with children, adolescents, adults, and older adults. Supervise, direct, and coordinate patient care assignments of other members of healthcare team. Delegates duties within legal parameters. Prepare for procedures as appropriate by obtaining supplies and equipment in timely manner. Serve as technical subject matter person, resource person, and/or preceptor to nursing staff. Complete written clinical performance evaluation form in timely manner. Handle and operate instruments, supplies, and equipment and perform safe nursing care in manner that is cost effective without compromising quality of care. Solve minor problem issues of counts and errors, patient care, relationships, equipment, supplies, and environment prior to management intervention. Provide and support efforts to develop and maintain team environment. Perform other duties as assigned.
