Registered Nurse (RN) - Labor and DeliveryWe are seeking an experienced and dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our fast-paced Labor and Delivery Unit. This challenging environment requires expertise in managing a high volume of births with a focus on patient care and safety.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide care for obstetrical patients at 16 weeks and greater, focusing on intrapartum, high-risk antepartum, and postpartum care.Oversee patient admissions and care during labor and delivery, managing an average of 20 births per 24 hours.Effectively perform sterile vaginal exams and immediate newborn care.Conduct antenatal fetal surveillance, intravenous hydration, and medication administration as required.Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team in high-acuity situations, including scheduled and unscheduled Cesarean births.Participate in triage functions to assess and screen patients prior to admission.QualificationsMinimum of 2 years of nursing experience, with a preference for 3 years in a Labor and Delivery setting.Experience in a fast-paced environment with 300 or more births per month is essential.Ability to manage double labor assignments effectively.Certification in BCLS, AWHONN Intermediate, and NRP is required.Experience with circulating to the operating room is strongly preferred.Must be competent in conducting sterile vaginal exams and in providing immediate newborn care.Work Schedule12-hour night shifts, from 18:45 to 07:15.Every other weekend required, with at least 6 weekend shifts every 6-week schedule.Contract lengths of 13-26 weeks are available.Unit DetailsPatient Ratios: 2:1; average of 30-40 admissions and 40 visits per day.Unit orientation provided: 24 hours.Utilization of PYXIS, EPIC, and SBAR for unit systems.Unit operates at a high volume and may involve managing multiple patients simultaneously.Additional InformationTravelers with appropriate experience in a large, high-volume setting are encouraged to apply.
