Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 06:45 - 19:15 Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 Years License: Valid Nursing License Certifications: ACLS and BLS Must-Have: Stepdown Experience Telemetry Experience Description: Primary patient population includes cardiovascular surgery and vascular surgery. This entails open heart surgery and thoracic lung surgery. Patients also have medical cardiology diagnoses such as heart failure and sepsis. Total number of beds is 40 dedicated to cardiac surgery stepdown. There are approximately 100 staff members on the unit. Typical staffing includes 1 charge RN and 13 RNs on day shift. Patient ratios are 1:5 for RNs and 1:13 for patient care techs. Equipment used includes IV pumps and various lifts. The electronic medical record system in use is Cerner. Candidates must have experience in stepdown and telemetry. Preferred experience includes prior work with cardiovascular and vascular surgery patients. Typical procedures performed on the unit include epidural management and chest tube management. Cardiac medication management is a key responsibility. A team player who enjoys a fast-paced environment is desired. There are no on-call requirements for this position. Minimum weekend shift requirement is 6 shifts in a 6-week period. Candidates must be flexible to work holiday shifts.
