Purpose: To plan, organize and present instruction and instructional environments that help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their educational and social development. Duties and Responsibilities Management of Instructional Time: Prepare materials, supplies, and equipment; start class quickly; get students on task; maintain high time-on-task. Management of Student Behavior: Establish and enforce rules and procedures for routines, verbal participation, movement; monitor behavior in various settings; intervene promptly while maintaining dignity. Instructional Presentation: Review prior material; introduce lesson objectives; speak fluently; present concepts clearly; use examples and demonstrations; assign tasks with high success rates; ask appropriate questions; pace instruction; transition smoothly; summarize main points. Instructional Monitoring of Student Performance: Maintain standards and due dates; circulate to check performance; use oral/written checks; pose clear questions. Instructional Feedback: Provide feedback on in-class and out-of-class work; affirm correct responses; give probing or clues for incorrect responses. Facilitating Instruction: Follow plan aligned with curricular goals; use assessment data; maintain accurate records; match objectives, strategies, assessments and student needs; use resources effectively. Interacting Within the Educational Environment: Treat students fairly; interact with students, co-workers, parents, and community. Performing Non-Instructional Duties: Carry out non‑instructional duties as assigned; adhere to laws, policies; pursue professional development. Additional Job Functions: Perform other related work as required. Minimum Training and Experience Degree in education or a related field that qualifies for licensure as a teacher by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction.
