AI Modernization Engineering Manager

AI Modernization Engineering Manager responsible for leading application modernization programs, driving AI-assisted software delivery, managing cross-functional engineering teams, and ensuring successful execution of cloud-native, API-first, and event-driven transformation initiatives.

Responsibilities: -

• Own delivery, quality, and execution outcomes for a designated modernization pod/workstream within the overall program.
• Lead and mentor cross-functional teams including developers, QA engineers, business analysts, and technical leads.
• Drive Agile/Scrum ceremonies, sprint planning, backlog management, dependency tracking, risk management, and release readiness for the pod.
• Promote and govern the adoption of AI-assisted development practices, AI coding agents, and AI-enabled SDLC processes within the pod.
• Define and enforce AI governance controls including approved tool usage, prompt standards, review processes, and human approval checkpoints.
• Establish productivity baselines and track AI adoption, velocity improvements, quality metrics, and value realization.
• Partner with client architects, enterprise architects, and technical leaders to align implementation decisions with target-state architecture.
• Ensure AI-generated artifacts comply with security, privacy, licensing, compliance, and coding standards.
• Identify delivery risks and escalations, proactively driving mitigation plans and stakeholder communication.
• Lead modernization efforts involving cloud migration, microservices, APIs, and event-driven architectures.
• Drive adoption of AI-first delivery models, Spec-Driven Development, and modern engineering practices across the pod.

Educational Qualifications: -

• Engineering Degree BE/ME/BTech/MTech/BSc/MSc.
• Technical certification in multiple technologies is desirable.

Skills: -

Mandatory skills

• 12+ years of experience in software engineering, application development, or enterprise technology delivery.
• 5+ years of experience leading engineering teams and delivering complex software projects using Agile methodologies.
• Strong people management experience with responsibility for team leadership, coaching, performance management, and stakeholder engagement.
• Proven experience leading application modernization initiatives involving cloud migration, microservices, APIs, and event-driven architectures.
• Strong understanding of software engineering best practices, DevOps, CI/CD, quality engineering, and release management.
• Practical experience with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor, or similar agentic coding platforms.
• Working knowledge of AI agent frameworks, Spec-Driven Development, Context Engineering, RAG, MCP, and AI governance concepts.
• Ability to engage effectively with client architects and technical stakeholders while translating architectural direction into executable delivery plans.
• Strong experience managing delivery, execution, quality, risk management, and release governance within large-scale transformation programs.

Good to Have Skills

• Experience leading large-scale enterprise modernization and digital transformation programs.
• Exposure to AI-first engineering operating models and AI-enabled SDLC frameworks.
• Experience governing enterprise AI adoption, AI compliance, and AI security practices.
• Experience working with cloud-native architectures across AWS, Azure, or hybrid cloud environments.
• Healthcare domain experience.
• Experience managing distributed and global engineering teams.
