Responsibilities

• Provide physical therapy assistant services under supervision to LTAC residents, following the plan of care established by the licensed physical therapist.
• Conduct prescribed therapeutic exercises, gait and mobility training, balance activities, and functional task practice to promote safe, independent movement.
• Apply approved modalities and manual techniques as directed by the supervising PT and within scope, documenting patient responses and progress.
• Monitor patient status during and after sessions, communicate changes to the supervising PT, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team on care plans.
• Assist with patient positioning, transfers, equipment setup, and safety protocols to minimize risk and maintain infection control standards.
• Participate in care coordination activities, contribute to discharge planning discussions when appropriate, and provide education to patients and families as permitted.

Requirements

• Active Physical Therapy Assistant license in good standing in Massachusetts, or eligibility to practice per state requirements.
• Associate degree in Physical Therapy Assisting from an accredited program.
• Prior experience as a PTA in LTAC or skilled nursing settings is preferred.
• Ability to work effectively in a skilled nursing facility LTAC environment and to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong documentation, communication, and patient-care skills.
