MRI TechnologistTownsen Memorial Imaging - Humble is looking for a PRN MRI Technologist to join our team! The MRI Technologist is responsible for performing magnetic resonance imaging studies using a magnetic resonance device that includes preparing patients, positioning, setting imaging parameters, performing computer processing, and displaying images. Selects appropriate imaging protocol for patient studies. Performs quality assurance scans as required. Demonstrates the ability to work cohesively as a team member within the MRI Department.Essential Functions:Set up and operate MRI scanners used in the medical diagnosis and/or treatment of patientsEnsure the procedure produces quality images and information for the health care professional to make an accurate diagnosisPositions patient and set up and adjust equipment to obtain the best quality MRI image of the specific body area requested by the physicianTakes preventative steps to ensure safety of patients and fellow staffTakes extra care to screen all patients to make sure patients do NOT have any metal in or on the patient's bodyAddress patient concerns during the procedure, and explain the MRI process to the patient in a way that is informative but also reassuringPositions and restrains patients; and takes MRI of patients' chest, limbs, or other body parts as requested by the physiciansImplements infection control procedures for the work areaChecks MRI for clarity of image, and retakes MRI when neededDistributes films to appropriate medical staff and transfer images to electronic medical records (EMR)Maintains quantity and quality control checks to assure MRI unit meets standards required by laws, rules, and facility policyPerforms MRI procedures for patients in surgery or at outpatient imaging departmentsCleans, maintains, and makes minor adjustments to MRI equipment, including determining repairs needed to equipmentTroubleshoot peripheral equipment and scanners to ensure that equipment is operating properly to avoid downtime or delays that affect patient satisfactionProtects patient and other personnel from any metal exposureMaintains radiographic supplies, film, and equipmentAssures that all materials and other required equipment, are present and in working orderFollows all safety rules on the job. Reports all accidents promptly and corrects minor safety hazards.Communicates with peers and management regarding any hazards identified in the work placeProtects patient and family privacy rights and maintains confidentiality of patient records in accordance to policy and procedure and HIPAA requirementsAdheres to the company standards of business conductPerforms other duties as assigned as per discretion of medical provider and facilityKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Knowledge of the principles and practices of diagnostic radiographic proceduresKnowledge of basic chemistry, film apparatus, and film processing techniquesKnowledge of how disease and injuries are diagnosed and imaged radiographicallyKnowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions applicable to the workKnowledge of human anatomyKnowledge of computer and relevant software applicationsStrong attention to detail: being careful about detail and thorough in completing work tasksAbility to work independently by guiding oneself with little or no supervision, and depending one oneself to get things doneAbility to maintain effective and organized systems to ensure timely patient flowEducation and Experience:Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology or Associates Degree in Radiology StudiesLicensed by the Medical State Board of Texas as a Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT)Registered MRI Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT-MR); orRegistered Radiological Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT-R),One (1) year of experience as a MRI Technologist in a healthcare settingBasic Life Support (BLS) CertificationBenefits:3 Medical Plans2 Dental Plans2 Vision PlanEmployee Assistance ProgramShort and Long Term Disability PlansBasic Life and Voluntary Insurance Plans with AD&D401(k) with a 2-year vestingPTO + Holidays
