About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 10 Experience: 2 years PACU RN experience required, preferably in a high acute care hospital or ICU. Extensive cardiac/cath lab holding room experience required. License: State RN Licensure Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS Must-Have: - Knowledge of peri-anesthesia standards of care - Airway management skills - Ability to assess nursing parameters - In-depth knowledge of pharmacology, including doses and interactions Description: The registered nurse provides individualized nursing care. This is based on knowledge of basic competencies in the fundamentals of peri-anesthesia nursing. The nurse will apply the nursing process to geriatric, adult, and adolescent patients. Care will be provided from admission through discharge. Responsibilities include monitoring and managing postoperative patients. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in end-tidal CO2 monitoring. Experience with various procedures such as abdominal aortic aneurysm repair, cardiac catheterization, and various surgeries is required. The role includes assessment and management of patients following anesthesia. The nurse must be familiar with various medications and their side effects. Professional communication and collaboration within an interdisciplinary team are essential. The nurse will be expected to provide exceptional patient care and uphold safety standards. A commitment to ongoing education and compliance with protocols is essential.
