- Experience with general medical and surgical nursing care, including assessments, care planning, inter-professional communication, utilization of EHR, IV pumps, wound vacs, heat/cooling pads, feeding pumps, feeding tubes, chest tubes, management of heparin and insulin drips, IV therapy management.
License & Certification
- IN State RN license or compact RN license (as of 7/1/20) required.
- BLS certification through AHA required.

Role Overview
- MedSurg RN providing general medical and surgical nursing care.
Hospital Assignment Details
- Assignment includes Jump Start orientation: 1 day of general hospital orientation, approximately 5 days of nursing orientation, Epic classes included.
- Non-billable orientation hours: 8 hours; guaranteed hours do not apply during orientation.
- Clinicians returning within 12 months of last worked date are not eligible for non-billable orientation.

- Local Rate: Applies to clinicians with permanent addresses within 50 miles (reduction of regular bill rate by ***%; rate multipliers be applied to the reduced regular bill rate)
- Call off policy: Client may call off or cancel up to 24 hours for every 13 week assignment
- Non-billable Orientation Hours: 8 hours, guaranteed hours will not apply during orientation, clinicians returning within 12 months of their last worked date will not be eligible for non-billable orientation

Facility will accept local travelers with a 12% reduction in rate


**Client can call off up to 24 hours per 13 week contract and there are 8 hours of non-billable orientation.**

General Medical and surgical units - We see a diverse population of patients with varying diagnoses including chronic illnesses such as COPD, Diabetes, CHF, end stage renal disease. We manage GI issues such as pancreatitis, bleeding, gastroparesis, inflammatory bowel diseases. We also manage infections such as pneumonia, cellulitis, sepsis, UTI, c-diff, etc. We may also care for patients with neurological issues such as stroke, dementia, traumatic brain injuries. We also have patients with mental health disorders including depression, anxiety, substance abuse, etc. Our patients will undergo procedures such as colonoscopies, thora and paracentesis, bronchoscopy, and minor surgeries (lap chole, incision and drainage, biopsies, amputation).

Skills and tasks required would be assessments, care planning, inter-professional communication, utilization of the EHR, IV pumps, wound vacs, heat/cooling pads, feeding pumps, feeding tubes, chest tubes, management of heparin and insulin drips, IV therapy management.


Equipment utilized in the unit/dept.
Epic electronic record, pyxis machines, Accucheck blood glucose, hospira IV pumps, SCDs for VTE prevention, heating/cooling pads, telemetry monitoring


Required skills and minimum years of experience.
Candidate must have at least 1.5 years of Level 1, Level 2 or tertiary experience. Candidate must have at least 1 year of experience at a like sized facility (600+) beds.


Specific licensures and certifications/registrations required. (ARRT, CRT, BLS, ACLS, etc)
BLS, IN State or compact RN license


Shift or schedule requirements. (Will the employee ever work alone? Is call required? If so, how often? Are weekends required?) 12-hour shifts, 3 weekend shifts in 4 weeks

Medsurg RN's will float to areas in greatest need. Patient ratios are 1:5-6.


BLS and IN license (or compact license as of 7/1/20).
