Hospital Lab Technician

The Bronchoscopy Technician is an essential team member of the Bronchoscopy Service, responsible for performing all key duties required for safe and effective bronchoscopy and related pulmonary procedures. Key Responsibilities Set up and prepare all equipment and supplies prior to procedures. Assist the bronchoscopist during procedures—including handling instruments, applying local anesthesia, and monitoring patient vital signs. Collect, process, and label tissue and fluid samples. Generate procedure reports and billing information. Maintain, inspect, and document equipment condition; order consumables and coordinate sterilization. Train new technicians and pulmonary fellows and keep procedure manuals up to date. Support pleural and other pulmonary procedures, and assist with research projects after probation. Required Qualifications BA/BS in Biological Sciences or related natural science major; or two years of college courses in natural sciences plus two years of applicable experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior experience working with critically ill patients in a hospital or clinic setting. Completion of environmental health & safety and HIPAA training. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to multitask, work under high-volume conditions, and collaborate with team members. Skill in administering local anesthesia and handling biopsy instruments. Ability to operate and transport heavy equipment carts. Preferred Qualifications Proficiency in statistics.
