Job Overview

A leading global freight forwarder 3PL logistics provider of air freight, sea freight, road transportation and supply chain solutions is seeking 10+ Inbound/Outbound Logistics Specialty Shift Supervisors. Long term contract role. Pay $38.46 per hour. Various 1st and 3rd shift schedules to choose from.

Position Summary

The Area / Shift Supervisor is responsible for day-to-day execution control and performance oversight within an assigned operational area or shift in a Contract Logistics facility operating under a 4PL model.

In this role, the Supervisor represents the company on the floor, ensuring work is executed safely, accurately, and in line with agreed KPIs, SOPs, and customer requirements. The role focuses on monitoring, coordination, issue resolution, and escalation, rather than direct people management.

Key Responsibilities

Area / Shift Execution Control

· Oversee operational execution within the assigned area (e.g., inbound, outbound, picking, packing, VAS) or shift as performed by the 4PL.

· Ensure activities are executed according to the daily plan, wave schedules, and priorities.

· Monitor real-time performance including throughput, backlog, service level, and quality.

· Support smooth start-up, execution, and handover of the area or shift.

4PL Floor-Level Oversight

· Act as the primary point of contact for the 4PL Area Lead or Shift Lead.

· Verify adequate staffing, skill coverage, and adherence to standard work by the 4PL.

· Identify execution gaps and drive immediate corrective actions through the 4PL leadership.

· Escalate risks, constraints, or repeated non-performance to the Shift Operations Manager.

Safety, Quality & Compliance (QSHE)

· Ensure the 4PL and employees complies with QSHE standards, site rules, and customer requirements.

· Monitor safe work practices and intervene when unsafe behaviors or conditions are observed.

· Support incident reporting, investigations, and corrective actions.

· Assist with audits, customer walkthroughs, and compliance checks.

Issue Management & Problem Solving

· Identify operational issues impacting service, productivity, or quality within the assigned area.

· Perform first-level problem solving and support root-cause analysis.

· Coordinate with IT, inventory control, maintenance, or planning teams as needed.

· Ensure timely communication and escalation of service-impacting issues.

Performance Tracking & Communication

· Track and validate area or shift KPIs and operational status.

· Participate in daily tier meetings, huddles, and shift handovers.

· Ensure accurate documentation of issues, actions, and follow-ups.

· Provide clear feedback to 4PL leads on performance expectations and outcomes.

Continuous Improvement Support

· Identify process gaps, inefficiencies, and recurring issues at the floor level.

· Support implementation of approved continuous improvement initiatives.

· Ensure consistent execution of process changes and updated SOPs by the 4PL.

Qualifications

Required

· High school diploma or equivalent required.

· 2–5 years of experience in warehouse or logistics operations.

· Experience working in outsourced, managed-service, or contract logistics environments.

· Solid understanding of warehouse processes and operational KPIs.

· Ability to coordinate work and drive outcomes without direct authority.

Preferred

· Experience in a 3PL or 4PL operating model.

· Experience working in a high volume Sort Center/Hub

· Familiarity with WMS systems and basic operational reporting tools.

· Exposure to Lean, continuous improvement, or standard work concepts.

· Experience in high-volume or time-sensitive operations.
