IT Analyst Principal (Principal Infrastructure Engineer)

Overview Solano County Department of Information Technology (DoIT) delivers technology solutions across county services. The guiding principles of DoIT are: Support and facilitate access to County information for the public and its employees and to help the County conduct its business in a fast and easy manner. Support the business goals of the County in an efficient, cost-effective manner. Provide safe and secure systems and an integration mechanism to streamline business practices. Provide ongoing technology training for staff. Provide opportunities for constituents to utilize technology in their interaction with the County. Share and exchange information using multiple channels. Position Summary The Principal Infrastructure Engineer manages and oversees a major information technology system, group, or program including staff and contract resources. The role plans, designs, and coordinates the maintenance of complex infrastructure systems or applications for multiple departments or countywide functions and acts as a project and team leader, serving as a technical expert in assigned areas of responsibility. Lead, plan, and coordinate the maintenance and development of complex infrastructure and application systems across multiple departments or countywide functions. Provide technical expertise in project management, system development and design, GIS, infrastructure design and planning, and emerging technology development and implementation. Supervise and mentor lower‑level information technology professionals. Lead major information technology initiatives and projects, ensuring alignment with county objectives and quality standards. Education Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in Information Technology or a related field. Experience Experience: Six (6) years of information technology systems and/or application development and support experience, including two (2) years of project lead or supervisory responsibility. Licensing, Certification and Registration Requirements Applicants may be required to possess a valid California Driver’s License, Class C. Some positions in this class will require technical certifications demonstrating expertise in specific bodies of knowledge. Note: All licenses, certificates and registrations requisite to the position must be kept current while employed in this class.
