Job Title: Production Worker – Poultry Processing

Job Description

This role is part of a large poultry processing operation, working on the production line in the processing area with no exposure to live chickens or the live-hang portion of the facility. You will contribute directly to preparing and packaging poultry products that are distributed to major national food retailers and restaurant chains. The position involves fast-paced, physically demanding work and offers opportunities for long-term employment and advancement into leadership roles.

Responsibilities

• Work on a high-speed production line in the poultry processing area with no exposure to live birds.

• Sort raw chicken products according to quality and specification requirements.

• Package raw chicken products accurately and efficiently to meet production targets.

• Trim excess fat or bone from chicken pieces to meet product standards.

• Perform general production and general labor tasks as assigned to support continuous operations.

• Load and move product, materials, and finished goods as needed on the production floor.

• Inspect product visually during sorting and packaging to ensure quality and food safety standards.

• Operate basic production line machinery and equipment as directed and follow all operating procedures.

• Maintain a fast work pace while standing for 8–10 hours per shift.

• Lift items weighing up to at least 70 pounds safely and repeatedly as required.

• Fully extend arms and shoulders and perform frequent squatting, bending, and stooping to complete tasks.

• Follow all safety, hygiene, and production protocols in a wet, high-speed manufacturing environment.

• Collaborate with team members and line leads to meet production goals and shift targets.

• Arrive on time and be prepared for work, including leads arriving 15 minutes prior to shift start when applicable.

Essential Skills

• Ability to work at a fast pace on a production line for 8–10 hours per shift.

• Capability to lift at least 70 pounds safely and repeatedly.

• Ability to fully extend arms and shoulders and perform squatting, bending, and stooping throughout the shift.

• Previous poultry processing experience preferred.

• Manufacturing or production environment experience.

• Basic proficiency in general production, packaging, packing, loading, and inspection tasks.

• Comfort working in a wet, high-speed production environment.

• Reliability and consistency in attendance for 2nd shift hours (2:30 p.m. – 11:30 p.m.).

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with general production line work in food or manufacturing settings.

• Experience in production supervision or leadership roles is a plus.

• Ability to follow detailed instructions and standard operating procedures.

• Strong attention to product quality and safety during inspection and handling.

• Willingness to learn new tasks and cross-train in different production roles.

Work Environment

The role is based in a poultry production and processing facility characterized by a wet, fast-paced environment. Work takes place on the processing side of the plant with no exposure to live chickens or the live-hang area. Team members stand for most of the 8–10 hour shift while working on a high-speed production line and handling raw poultry products. The position is on 2nd shift, 4:30 PM - 2:00 AM with a 30-minute lunch break. Leads are expected to arrive 15 minutes before the shift starts to prepare for operations. You will work around production line equipment and machinery, following safety and hygiene protocols appropriate for a food manufacturing settings.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Harrisonburg, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.30 - $18.30/hr.
