Registered Nurse

A Registered Nurse (RN) working in an ambulatory surgery center in Kentucky is responsible for providing safe, high-quality, patient-centered care before, during, and after surgical procedures. The RN collaborates with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure patient safety, efficient workflow, and positive surgical outcomes.

Key job expectations include:

• Preoperative care: Assess patients before surgery, review medical histories, verify medications and allergies, confirm consent and procedure details, and prepare patients for surgery.
• Intraoperative support: Assist with surgical procedures as assigned, maintain a safe and sterile environment, monitor patient status, and follow infection prevention protocols.
• Postoperative care: Monitor patients during recovery, assess vital signs and pain, identify complications, provide appropriate interventions, and determine readiness for discharge according to established criteria.
• Patient education: Explain preoperative and postoperative instructions, including medications, wound care, activity restrictions, and follow-up appointments.
• Documentation and compliance: Maintain accurate and timely medical records and comply with Kentucky Board of Nursing requirements, facility policies, and applicable state and federal regulations.
• Patient safety and teamwork: Follow medication safety procedures, participate in emergency preparedness, communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary team, and protect patient privacy and confidentiality.
• Professional accountability: Maintain required RN licensure, complete continuing education and competency training, and demonstrate professionalism, compassion, and sound clinical judgment.
