Additionally, this position is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the prisoner computer lab. At any given time, 20% to 30% of the population is composed of inmates in pre-trial status; Approximately 80% of the population is composed of sentenced felons. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in education, counseling, social or behavior sciences or a closely related field. AND One year of journey level paraprofessional experience in educational or vocational education programs or services. This experience is equivalent to work such as the Vocational Rehabilitation Assistant2 or Education Program Assistant, and similar classes with the State of Alaska, or the equivalent with another employer. Additional qualifying work experience may substitute for the education on a year-for-year basis. Special Note An extensive background investigation will be required for successful applicants. Working with inmates requires care in observing institution security policies and procedures and may involve personal risk. Some positions perform activities that require bending, crouching, walking or standing for long periods of time. Some work activities involve discomfort or unpleasantness such as moderate noise levels, vibration, dust, dirt or odors associated with operation of equipment and/or tools in performance of duties.
