Camera and Photos Image Quality Engineer

The Image Quality u0026 Qualification team at Apple is seeking a results driven image quality lab automation engineer to help us test and evaluate the full camera this position you will design build conduct and present analysis of Camera Image Quality investigations - both objective and subjective. You will also develop custom automation solutions for our Camera Imaging lab. Your collaboration with cross-functional Camera teams at Apple will directly influence the performance and image quality of Apples iOS cameras.
As an Image Quality Lab Automation Engineer in Camera u0026 Photos you will play a critical role in ensuring that Apple cameras produce best-in-class image quality. Your primary responsibilities include designing custom lab tests for novel features algorithms or hardware solutions and analyzing the results to influence major decisions across various Apple camera teams. This role requires the ability to understand basic image quality (objective u0026 subjective) some knowledge of camera hardware u0026 firmware design software automation in a lab environment and an enthusiasm for building bespoke solutions. The ideal candidate thrives in some ambiguity is not afraid to challenge assumptions and has a passion for camera image quality. Real world experience building automation systems with coding models (Opus/Gemini/GPT) and coding harnesses like Claude Code Codex CursornExpertise in at least one of the following: Bash Python MATLAB Swift CnTechnical familiarity with imaging algorithms and pipelinesnExceptional written and verbal communication skills with experience in cross-functional collaborationnWorking knowledge of photography and camera terminologynFamiliarity with ISO standard Image Quality Metrics and their associated chartsnBS degree in Computer Science Software Engineering Imaging Science or a related fieldn Deep expertise in camera image quality metrics on consumer devicesnKnowledge or research experience in psychophysicsnHands-on experience in mobile camera system debuggingnDeep expertise in camera algorithms and image pipelinesnExperience with 3A algorithm designnPhotography expertiseRequired Experience:
