Quality Engineer 1Position: Quality Engineer 1Location: California (Torrance, Chatsworth, Valencia) & bordering statesDuration: On-Going contractEstimated Frequency: 30hrs per weekCompensation: $47/hr.Position Overview:Job Description:Utilize quality science techniques to effect continuous performance improvement at assigned suppliers.Reviews, analyzes, and reports on quality discrepancies related to process, assembly, manufacturing, mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, or electro-mechanical systems.Ensure that performance and quality of products conform to established company and regulatory standards.Use surveillance and auditing techniques to identify opportunities for process and product improvement.Interfaces with manufacturing, engineering, customer, supplier, and procurement (as appropriate) to ensure requirements / expectations are satisfied.Facilitate development of supplier recovery plans.Monitor and evaluate supplier process for compliance to purchase order and engineering requirements.Collaborate with supplier to investigate root cause and corrective actions when process or product deficiencies are detected.Identify, plan, and facilitate cross-functional improvement activities.Deploy variation management tools and techniques at select suppliers to mitigate risk.Have performed Quality System Audits, AS9102 First Article Reviews.Computer proficiency and proficiency with MS Office products.Additional Comments:Travel is required and may extend beyond the local area.Initial supplier assignments may change to meet customer requirements.Work hours are not fixed or guaranteed and may extend beyond 40 hours per week to meet customer requirements.Aerospace supplier experience is preferred and may be used as the primary selection criteria among equally qualified candidates.Skills Requirement:Production (or Manufacturing) Quality Assurance/Control in Aerospace industry (or similar).Ability to interpret blueprints and specifications.Collaborate with production personnel and stakeholders.Identify and drive root cause and corrective actions.Execute on deliveries.Attention to Detail.Strong communication skills.In process and Final Inspection.Requirements:3-5 years' experience of Aerospace Quality requirements experiencePrevious experience with AS9100 and AS9102 (ISO 9001 is desirable but not required)Previous experience performing and/or evaluating First Article InspectionsPrevious experience with blueprint readingPrevious experience in Root Cause analysis and Corrective Action/Preventative Action DevelopmentPrevious experience in auditing (any of these – ISO 9001, AS9100, Internal)Must be a US citizenWe are an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, political affiliation, marital status, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
