The position performs appropriate clinical testing in compliance with department standards and documents in the EMR system.**CORE JOB FUNCTIONS**Provides support to providers which includes documentation in patient charts as required and directed for patient care. * Provides patient-centric care.* Adheres to University of Miami policies, standards, values, and required training.* Complies with regulations and maintains patient confidentiality.* Follows best practices of patient safety, hand hygiene, and infection control.* Attends educational courses for ophthalmic personnel when assigned.* Demonstrates high quality of work through accuracy, timeliness, professionalism, and thoroughness.* Meets daily productivity goals.* Ensures all equipment is calibrated and instrumentation is in proper working order.* Participates in assigned clinical research and maintains required certifications.* Organizes and stocks rooms for daily clinical activities.* Travels to satellite eye centers when necessary.* Works evenings and weekends as needed.* Performs organizational duties as assigned.* Completes IVI (intravitreal injection) prep for patients.* Facilitates motility exams.* Supports Virtual Care encounters and exams.* Performs and documents the following items in the electronic medical record.* Reason for visit* Tangent screen visual fields* Chief complaint* Basic ocular motility* History of present illness* Pupillary evaluation* Basic review of systems* Ocular surface assessment* Review systemic and ocular medications* Eye drop administration* Record allergies* Intraocular pressure such as Goldman, Tono-Pen, and I-Care* Pharmacy information* Pachymetry* Family, social, medical, and ocular history* Insertion and removal of hard & soft contact lenses* Visual acuity at distance and near* Color vision test* Lensometry* Stereopsis test* Manual refraction* Sensorimotor exam* Confrontational fields* Automated & manual perimetry* Humphrey visual fields* Virtual Reality (VR) visual fields* Amsler Grid visual fields**QUALIFICATIONS****Education:**High School diploma or equivalent**Experience:**1 year of relevant experience**Knowledge, Skill, and Attitudes:*** Works well with patients of all age groups.* Presents with a professional appearance.* Communicates effectively, both verbally and in writing.* Demonstrates outstanding interpersonal skills.* Analyzes, organizes, prioritizes, and meets deadlines in a fast-paced environment.* Completes assignments accurately and with attention to detail.* Seeks instruction in areas that require additional knowledge.* Works independently and in a collaborative environment.* Displays basic knowledge of ocular anatomy, function, and motility.* Demonstrates ability to perform the appropriate patient workup using the EMR telehealth platform.* Proficient in Microsoft Office.The University of Miami offers competitive salaries and a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, tuition remission and more.UHealth-University of Miami Health System, South Florida's only university-based health system, provides leading-edge patient care powered by the ground breaking research and medical education at the Miller School of Medicine.
