High School Math Teacher (2026 - 2027 School Year)

Job Description High School Math Teacher Direct Supervisor Principal, or designee Position Summary The primary responsibilities include providing support in the instructional process by serving as a facilitator of learning, developing lesson plans, and delivering group and individual student instruction within established curriculum guidelines; collaborating with other teachers, professional staff, and administrators to address classroom and school issues; and responding to inquiries from parents or guardians regarding academic and social‑emotional matters. Must be experienced with the workshop model and project‑based learning, possess excellent subject knowledge, and have a sound understanding of the Missouri Learning Standards and Common Core Standards. Position Responsibilities Develop school environments where all students are actively and meaningfully engaged in rigorous instruction and authentic learning tasks. Interrupt policies and practices that push at‑risk students into the juvenile and criminal justice systems. Engage families as partners in meaningful ways. Nurture an open, collaborative, and trusting environment. Engage in ongoing job‑embedded professional development through co‑teaching and co‑planning. Establish weekly objectives that align to the Common Core Standards and Missouri Learning Standards. Facilitate hands‑on activities and projects that allow students to learn by doing and exploring. Maintain a clean and organized classroom. Use discipline models of BIST and Restorative Justice to maintain a positive, encouraging learning environment. Implement instructional activities that contribute to a climate where students are actively engaged in meaningful learning experiences. Identify, select, and modify instructional resources to meet the needs of students with varying backgrounds, learning styles, and special needs. Assist in assessing changing curricular needs and offer plans for improvement. Maintain effective and efficient record‑keeping procedures. Provide a positive environment in which students are encouraged to be actively engaged in the learning process. Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, parents, and other professionals on a regular basis. Collaborate with peers to enhance the instructional environment. Model professional and ethical standards when dealing with students, parents, peers, and the community. Assume responsibility for meeting course and school‑wide student performance goals. Demonstrate gains in student performance. Participate in meetings, training, and professional development. Meet professional obligations through efficient work habits, such as meeting deadlines, honoring schedules, and coordinating. Act in a professional and ethical manner at all times and comply with school policies, procedures, and expectations. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor. All work responsibilities are subject to having performance goals and/or targets established as part of the annual performance planning process or as the result of organizational planning. Skills and Qualifications Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Education Valid Missouri teaching certificate Desire to continue professional development Excellent organization skills and an ability to coordinate multiple tasks and activities Demonstrated success in urban education Outstanding verbal and written communication skills and an ability to keep multiple stakeholder groups informed of critical issues, activities, and schedules Excellent work ethic, positive attitude, flexibility, and willingness to perform tasks assigned Demonstrates ethical behavior and confidentiality regarding information about students and teachers Must pass an extensive background check Physical Demands This job requires the employee to sit, stand, walk, speak, hear, use hands and fingers, reach, bend, stoop, lift objects of at least ten pounds, and occasionally stoop, kneel, or crouch. Visual ability requires normal and color vision, close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee may have to intervene in student fights or when students are escalated using MANDT training. Legal and Background Check Requirements Both federal and state law requires all public school personnel to submit to and pass a criminal background check prior to employment.
