Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery - Per Diem Nights

Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Unit: Labor and Delivery

Employment Type: Per Diem tier III

Tier II Requirements: 144 hours minimum per 6 week schedule. 4 weekend shifts per 6 week schedule. 1 winter holiday and 1 spring/summer holiday.

Shift: Night Shift (7pm-7:30am) Location: St. Mary Medical Center

Position Purpose

The primary objective of this position is to provide quality of care. Responsible for the direct and/or indirect care of patients assigned utilizing professional nursing skills and knowledge.

Unit Overview

Unit contains 8 labor beds, 2 triage rooms, 2 operating rooms, and 2 recovery rooms. 1:1-1:2 nurse to patient ratio.

As a Registered Nurse, you will

• Assess learning needs, readiness to learn and identify actual or potential barriers to learning and thereby incorporating the patient's education into daily activities based on age, cultural and spiritual values.
• Document admission assessment / reassessment, plan, interventions and medication use and monitor its effects and outcomes according to policy.
• Utilize the information management system to enhance communication and document change in-patients condition to all appropriate individuals. Prioritize work assignment based on changing situations.
• Communicate transfer of patient responsibility and pertinent information at the bedside and during Interprofessional Rounds
• Recognize and integrate patient special needs and individualize care and knowledgeable in abuse recognition and referral
• Includes pain management and supportive care issues in the plan of care.
• Adhere to infection control standards specific to patient care and by promotes and maintains a safe, clean and orderly environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• BSN required from an accredited school of nursing.
• PA RN License
• AHA BLS
• Prior L&D experience preferred.
