Registered Nurse (RN) - Progressive Care Unit

Unit Information

The Progressive Care Unit is equipped with 24 beds and operates under a collaborative team structure. The unit emphasizes a friendly and outgoing work environment, promoting teamwork and excellent patient care.

Shift Information

• Day Shift: Charge Nurse, 4-5 RNs, 2-3 Patient Care Technicians (PCTs)
• Night Shift: Charge Nurse, 4-5 RNs, 2 PCTs

Patient Ratios

The patient-to-nurse ratio is 5:1, ensuring focused and comprehensive care for each patient.

Equipment and Technology

• Tele monitoring
• Post-operative monitoring
• Meditech / CPN for electronic medical records

Qualifications Required Skills

• Minimum of 1 year of current hospital experience in a Progressive Care Unit
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications

Preferred Skills

• Experience in cardiac care
• Familiarity with Meditech software

Typical Procedures

Patients typically undergo post-operative recovery from various procedures, including:

• Surgical interventions
• Cath lab procedures
• Orthopedic surgeries (spine and joint)

This state-of-the-art unit features ADA-compliant and bariatric rooms with in-room Hoyer lifts. The culture emphasizes collaboration and teamwork, catering to a diverse patient population requiring care for elective orthopedic surgeries, cath lab procedures, strokes, and various cardiac conditions.

Scheduling

The unit offers a modified self-scheduling process, allowing for schedules to be posted three weeks in advance, enabling flexibility for trades and adjustments.
