You Are:

UST is looking for a Senior Java Engineer with hands-on experience in designing, developing, and delivering enterprise-grade applications. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Java, Spring Boot, C++, Kafka, Microservices, and Cloud technologies, along with experience building scalable and distributed systems. Experience in eCommerce and product development environments is highly desirable.

The candidate should possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, be capable of working independently, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions.

The opportunity:

• Design, develop, and implement high-performance Java-based applications.

• Analize business and user requirements to define application architecture and technical solutions.

• Define application objectives, features, and functionality aligned with business goals.

• Design and develop scalable, secure, and distributed microservices-based applications.

• Build RESTful APIs and backend services using Java and Spring Boot.

• Develop and maintain event-driven applications using Apache Kafka.

• Participate in architecture discussions and recommend improvements to existing systems and Java infrastructure.

• Develop, test, deploy, and maintain high-quality software solutions.

• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve application and production issues.

• Produce detailed technical design documents and development specifications.

• Ensure adherence to coding standards, best practices, and software engineering principles.

• Perform code reviews and mentor junior developers.

• Collaborate with Product Managers, Architects, QA Engineers, and DevOps teams throughout the software development lifecycle.

• Develop user and technical documentation where required.

• Support CI/CD implementation and deployment automation.

• Stay current with emerging technologies and continuously enhance technical expertise.

This position description identifies the responsibilities and tasks typically associated with the performance of the position. Other relevant essential functions may be required.

What you need:

• 10+ years of hands-on experience in Java application development.

• Strong expertise in Spring Boot and enterprise Java frameworks.

• Hand-on experience with C++.

• 6+ years of experience with Apache Kafka.

• Strong understanding of Microservices Architecture.

• Experience with Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).

• Experience designing and building scalable, distributed, and highly available applications.

• Strong understanding of REST APIs and event-driven architecture.

• Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases.

• Knowledge of software design patterns and object-oriented programming principles.

• Strong debugging, performance tuning, and troubleshooting skills.

• DevOps & Tools: Git and Gitflow workflow, Docker, Kubernetes.

• CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Bamboo, or TFS.

• Atlassian tools including Bitbucket, JIRA, and Confluence.

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or an equivalent technical discipline.

• Relevant industry certifications in Java, Cloud, or Kubernetes are an added advantage.

• Experience in product development organizations.

• Experience working on eCommerce platforms.

• Exposure to cloud-native application development.

• Knowledge of container orchestration and deployment automation.

• Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies.

Compensation can differ depending on factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, education, and level of experience. UST provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in various U.S. markets as set forth below.

Role Location: Arkansas / Remote

Compensation Range: $82,000 - $123,000

Benefits

Full-time, regular employees accrue a minimum of 10 days of paid vacation per year, receive 6 days of paid sick leave each year (pro-rated for new hires throughout the year), 10 paid holidays, and are eligible for paid bereavement leave and jury duty. They are eligible to participate in the Company's 401(k) Retirement Plan with employer matching. They and their dependents residing in the US are eligible for medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as the following Company-paid Employee Only benefits: basic life insurance, accidental death and disability insurance, and short- and long-term disability benefits. Regular employees may purchase additional voluntary short-term disability benefits, and participate in a Health Savings Account (HSA) as well as a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) for healthcare, dependent child care, and/or commuting expenses as allowable under IRS guidelines. Benefits offerings vary in Puerto Rico.

Full-time temporary employees receive 6 days of paid sick leave each year (pro-rated for new hires throughout the year) and are eligible to participate in the Company's 401(k) program with employer matching. Part-time temporary employees receive 6 days of paid sick leave each year (pro-rated for new hires throughout the year).

All US employees who work in a state or locality with more generous paid sick leave benefits than specified here will receive the benefit of those sick leave laws.
