Clinical Lab Scientist - Per Diem

The Clinical Laboratory at Zuckerberg San Francisco General, Blood Bank/Transfusion Service performs pre‑transfusion compatibility testing in preparation for selecting, cross‑matching, and issuing blood and blood components for patients. This position performs all routine and special blood banking tests and procedures, demonstrating teamwork and reflecting the UCSF and ZSFG mission, vision, and values. Responsibilities Performs all stat and routine pre‑transfusion compatibility testing. Selects and issues blood and blood components. Performs antibody identification, problem‑solving, and serological follow‑up on reported transfusion reactions. Responsible for computer data entry of test requests and test results. Performs quality control procedures for reagents and equipment. Performs additional special study projects as assigned. Assists in training Laboratory Medicine Residents, CLS students, and new employees. Qualifications Graduation from college with a bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific field. Possession of a California Clinical Laboratory Scientist License issued by the State Department of Health. Ability to work independently, under pressure; recognize and resolve problems while maintaining a high level of organization. Preferred Qualifications Experience in a high‑volume computerized laboratory. Effective verbal and written communication skills related to clinical results. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF.
