Engineering Technician

This position will perform a variety of technical engineering work to support senior engineer staff in the preparing of engineering documents, details and report. In addition, the position will assure county construction projects are built according to approved plans, and that the construction complies with County regulations and other governing agencies, as required. As such, the individual should be familiar with interagency regulations and standards and their application for projects within the county.

Essential job functions include:

• Construction site visits to observe building and/or maintenance projects of the County roads and buildings.
• Stormwater assessment to ensure all required measures are being taken to prevent discharge into the local water supply.
• CAD drafting to update manual plans with CAD drawings.
• Mapping to develop GIS maps and maintain databases for Engineering/Stormwater projects.
• Administrative duties including completing various reports.

The job also requires specific physical requirements such as lifting, driving, ability to travel, etc. The list below is not comprehensive; this job is also responsible for other duties as assigned.

Typical qualifications include:

• Prefer AA in Engineering, Construction, Environmental studies or related field of study.
• Five years in a similar environment; ability to read construction plans; knowledge of construction methods and materials; knowledge of SCDES rules and regulations.
• CEPSCI or ability to obtain in 6 months; experience with technical writing. A valid state driver's license. NICET, ICC, IBS, ACI certifications (or equivalent) preferred.
