Physical Therapist

Occupational/Physical TherapistTo provide occupational and physical therapy in an environment that will reduce or eliminate physical or motor skill impairments that interfere with the individual student's ability to benefit from the district's educational program.Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree and must hold an active and unrestricted license from Missouri State Board of Healing Arts. Experience in a school setting is preferred.Provides appropriate occupational and/or physical therapy services to meet students' identified individualized needs and reduce or eliminate physical and/or motor skill impairments.Collaborates with classroom teachers and additional school staff as needed to integrate therapy strategies into the student's educational program and daily activities.Prepares for therapy sessions and maintains written/electronic documentation of planning and service delivery as required.Maintains accurate and timely records in accordance with federal and state law, district policies, and professional standards.Attends and participates in faculty meetings, IEP meetings, and other required professional meetings.Establishes and maintains cooperative, professional relationships with students, parents/guardians, and staff.Contributes to the development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) by providing assessment data, progress reports, and recommendations.Conducts comprehensive evaluations and assessments to determine eligibility and need for occupational and/or physical therapy services.Assists in the selection, adaptation, and/or recommendation of specialized equipment and materials to enable student participation in educational activities.Facilitates appropriate referrals to outside agencies, medical providers, or specialists as needed, in accordance with district procedures.Maintains and submits accurate documentation required for Medicaid billing and third-party reimbursement, when applicable.Performs other appropriate school related duties as assigned by the Building Principal and/or the Executive Director of Special Education.The essential functions contained in this job description are in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and are not an exhaustive list of the duties performed for this position. Days employed in excess of the established work calendar shall be payable at the employee's regular daily rate.Performance of this position will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of certificated personnel.
