Job DescriptionGeneral Summary:The Senior Director, Marketing is accountable for understanding the market landscape and Vertex's position within the market, actively contributing to defining the strategic and performance goals of the portfolio, and tracking performance against those goals. As a people manager, this role may have financial accountabilities and human resource responsibilities for assigned staff.Key Duties and Responsibilities:Develops the portfolio strategy, and oversees creation of brand strategies and brand lifecycle activitiesOversees development and implementation of strategic and tactical plans for brandLeads team through challenges related to creating external (promotional) communications materials for external use with customersProvides input into forecasting assumptions, both short term and long termGenerates and consolidates key insights across HCPs and patient stakeholders (through market research, ad boards, etc.)Leads the development of strong partnerships with cross-functional team to support business goalsEvaluates ROI for activities across the portfolioLeads team through subordinate managers or higher level individual contributors and contributes to the development of strategyAs a people manager, this role may have financial accountabilities and human resource responsibilities for assigned staff.Knowledge and Skills:Experience defining the strategy for a brand or portfolio of productsAbility to oversee generation of insights, and apply those insights to business problems/opportunitiesAnalytical mindset, with demonstrated ability to develop strategy, make strategic recommendations, monitor performance, understand ROI and allocate resourcesExceptional working knowledge of market forecasts and relationship of business drivers to revenueExceptional working knowledge of MS Office applications, including PPT, Excel and WordExperience in pharmaceutical marketing, or closely related field(s) (e.g., pharmaceutical sales, ad agency, etc.)Experience managing teams and individual staff membersEducation and Experience:Bachelor's degree in marketing, business, or scientific degreeTypically requires 12 years of work experience and 5 years of supervisory/management experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experienceAt Vertex, we embrace continuous learning and encourage employees to stay informed on advances in AI, technology, automation, and industry trends. This role is eligible for an annual bonus and annual equity awards. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay, in accordance with federal and state requirements.
