Construction Inspector - Transportation

BKF is hiring a Construction Inspector to execute onsite construction inspections to ensure the project is being constructed in compliance with the contract requirements and applicable permits. Responsibilities Inspects and reports on a variety of construction projects Advises Resident Engineer or Agency Project Manager and informs contractors of any variances from approved plans and specifications Takes samples of materials, prepares test specimens, and assist in conducting field tests, or refers samples for laboratory analysis Checks the location of public utilities to avoid interference with construction work Checks roadway/slope/structure grades, flow lines, and locations of structures Reviews contractor's traffic control plans and field traffic control; review project safety Inspects earthwork grading, placement of asphalt concrete, proportions, and control of mixes Inspects delivery, placing, and curing of concrete and the placing of reinforcing steel Assists PM in review of project submittals, RFI's, CCO's Verifies acceptability of material incorporated into the project by Certificates of Compliance, shop drawings, test reports Maintains material and inspection records Maintains a daily diary, photo log, contract item quantities Other duties as assigned Requirements College degree or minimum 5 years' work experience with Transportation or Civil related projects 4 + years of experience in the supervision or inspection of engineering construction work including reading and interpreting complex construction plans and specifications Valid California Class C driver's license and an acceptable driver's record are required Desired Certifications Certified Public Infrastructure Inspector (CPII) ICC Reinforced Concrete Inspection Certification ICC Masonry Inspection Certification ICC Welding Inspection Certification ACI Concrete Field-Testing Technician - Grade 1 Certification Qualified SWPPP Certification Fall protection Safety Training First Aid & CPR Benefits The typical base salary range for this position is $125,000.00 - $160,000.00 annually, depending upon skills, experience, education, and geographical location, hourly wage Competitive salaries, profit sharing, and 401k Generous paid time off packages 9 Paid Holidays Flexible schedules Education reimbursement, paid annual dues for professional and societal organizations BKF offers competitive and award-winning benefits and perks.
