RN Medical-Surgical Float

Job Summary:

The Level II Registered Nurse (RN) Med Surg Float provides competent nursing care based on established standards within medical-surgical and telemetry settings. This role includes responsibilities such as patient assessment, medication administration, and collaboration with the healthcare team. The nurse may also assume expanded duties including charge nurse, preceptor, and committee member roles. The position requires at least two years of experience, a New York RN license, BLS certification, and telemetry experience. The nurse will work rotating day, evening, and night shifts including every other weekend, holidays, on-call, and callback as needed. Responsibilities:

• Provide skilled nursing care to medical-surgical and telemetry patients in accordance with established standards.
• Perform patient assessments, medication administration, and treatment planning.
• Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary healthcare team members.
• Assume expanded roles such as charge nurse, preceptor for new staff, and participate in committee activities.
• Respond to on-call and callback duties as required by unit needs.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care and clinical data.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active Registered Nurse license in the state of New York only.
• Minimum of two years nursing experience, including telemetry experience.
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
• Strong clinical assessment and medication administration skills.
• Ability to work effectively in fast-paced, rotating shift environments.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience in charge nurse or preceptor roles.
• Familiarity with electronic health record systems such as EPIC.
• Previous committee participation or leadership experience.

Special Considerations:

• Work requires rotating day, evening, and night shifts with every other weekend coverage.
• Mandatory availability for holidays, on-call, and callback duties as needed.
• Must be able to work in an inpatient medical-surgical and telemetry environment.

Scheduling:

• Rotating shifts including day, evening, and night.
• Every other weekend work is required.
• Holiday and on-call/ callback coverage as per unit requirements.
• No straight shift schedules; flexibility in scheduling is essential.
