Job Location This position will be located at 930 Wildwood, Jefferson City, MO. The Newborn Hearing Screening Program (NHSP) is seeking a dedicated and detail‑oriented individual who is passionate about ensuring all infants born in Missouri are screened for hearing loss, receive timely diagnostic evaluations when needed, and are connected to early intervention services to support optimal language outcomes. This position is located within the Bureau of Genetics and Healthy Childhood, which is committed to helping Missouri families reach their full potential through prevention, education, and awareness initiatives. The salary indicated represents a base pay rate. If the individual selected or the position is eligible for a pay differential (e.g., shift, security, or years of service), it will be added to the total compensation in your paycheck. A pay differential does not raise your base pay. Job Responsibilities In this role, you will support the statewide newborn hearing screening system through data coordination, program support, and stakeholder collaboration. Coordinate data management activities, including entering and updating records, managing hearing screening cases, and facilitating interstate notifications for infants requiring follow‑up services. Monitor and analyze data within the NHSP surveillance system to support continuous quality improvement efforts. Collaborate with the NHSP Follow‑Up Coordinator to identify infants who may have missed screening, require rescreening, or need diagnostic evaluation. Communicate effectively with families, healthcare providers, birthing hospitals, midwives, and public stakeholders to promote the importance of newborn hearing screening and early intervention. Partner with hospital staff and providers to ensure accurate, complete, and timely data reporting and to resolve discrepancies. Provide training and technical assistance on the NHSP data and surveillance system. Assist with coordination of contractor meetings related to the NHSP data system. Assist with monitoring contracts to ensure compliance with state statute and federal grant regulations. Assist with maintaining program materials and managing inventory of NHSP resources at the state warehouse. Assist with managing website accessibility of all NHSP web‑based literature and webpage content updates. Participate in trainings, workshops, and conferences to maintain program knowledge and support high‑quality data reporting. Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal staff, partner agencies, advisory committees, and community stakeholders. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree (substitutions may be considered). Ability to work independently while managing a variety of responsibilities. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Effective time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft365 applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of newborn hearing screening, early hearing detection and intervention (EHDI), or maternal and child health. Experience working with data systems and reporting processes. Experience engaging with diverse populations and community partners. Ability to analyze information and support data‑driven decision‑making. Strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence. Proactive, solution‑focused mindset. Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic work environment. Ability to collaborate effectively within a team‑oriented culture.
