About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Oncology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 3 years in specialty required License: Active state nursing license Certifications: BLS, Chemo (ONS/ONCC), OCN Must-Have: Epic experience required Description: Will work every other weekend. Will float as needed. Charting is done using Epic. This is a 186-bed facility. The facility is Magnet designated and a teaching hospital. Patient care involves primarily oncology diagnoses. The unit manages patients transitioning to comfort measures. Patients also may have medical diagnoses. Special procedures provided include chemotherapy and blood transfusions. Continuous IV pain medications and PCA management are part of care. Central line management and IVIG treatments are also offered. Equipment used includes lift equipment and blood warmers. Daily census averages 11 patients. The unit supports interdisciplinary teams such as IV teams and respiratory services. Emergency response involves rapid response teams. Patient and family education and support are integral to the role. Traveler must have previous charge experience. Traveler must have trauma level I experience. Community hospital experience is preferred. Traveler must be able to manage patient care for adults and geriatrics. Skills required include accessing and managing ports, administering chemotherapy, and recognizing abnormal lab values. The ability to manage side effects of treatments is essential. Additional responsibilities include wound care and care coordination. Participation in patient education and support initiatives is necessary.
