Operations Support Technician

Operations Support Technician Location: Springfield, VA (onsite, non‑remote). This role supports a Department of War customer in fielding and managing deployable capabilities for the Personnel Recovery (PR) mission. Job Responsibilities Assist in fielding and managing deployable PR capabilities. Maintain and operate mobile RF equipment, both on the ground and aboard aviation platforms. Coordinate and participate in realistic training scenarios, exercises, and testing of RF devices and other capabilities worldwide. Develop training, tactics, and procedures (TTPs) associated with PR capabilities. Conduct recurring maintenance inspections, configuration, operational testing, and troubleshooting of equipment. Serve as property custodian, maintaining accountability of assets. Prepare routine correspondence, operator support plans, training guides, exercise plans, security plans, and draft capability requirements. Conduct capability briefs for COCOM and interagency stakeholders. Establish relationships with community partners/customers. Participate in seminars, working groups, and meetings on emerging technologies. Plan and support test events, exercises, and operational utility evaluations (OUE). Provide initial and refresher training on equipment use. Offer technical support/advice on PR equipment and capabilities. Minimum Requirements Active Top Secret US Government Clearance with SCI eligibility; US citizenship required. Experience with radio frequencies (RF), airborne sensors, and GPS. Experience deploying and operating RF sensors. Experience with operational utility evaluation of capabilities. 5+ years in Personnel Recovery or related military experience. Operational deployment experience. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and in a team. Preferred Skills and Experience 6+ years of related experience. SERE Level C training or equivalent. Special Operations experience. Operational deployment within the last 3 years. Other Requirements Full‑time onsite, 8‑hour day/40‑hour week; occasional overtime and after‑hours or weekend work. Regular travel up to 30% and ability to deploy for short durations (≤30 days) worldwide. Ability to sit or stand for extended periods; lift up to 50 lbs. Must pass physical examinations and meet theater entry requirements. Maintain deployability status. Compensation and Benefits Hourly rate: $46–$62, plus overtime eligibility. The position falls under the Service Contract Act (SCA) and includes health and welfare payments.
