Systems Engineer I - AEROSPACE

As a Systems Engineer 1 within the Communication, Navigation and Surveillance (CNS) organization at Honeywell, you will play a critical role in creating advanced systems that meet the evolving needs of the aviation industry. Your expertise will impact the delivery of cutting‑edge avionics solutions and contribute to the broader mission of enhancing global aviation safety. In this role within the Military Traffic & Transponder Product Engineering team, you will develop and deliver software solutions that support Honeywell’s aerospace initiatives, driving innovation and maintaining industry leadership. You will work on next‑generation and new product development projects in the Airborne Traffic, Collision Avoidance & Surveillance Avionics space, owning systems engineering from requirements through lifetime. Location: Phoenix, AZ – Hybrid work schedule. Responsibilities Work across disciplines, collaborating with Systems, Software, Hardware, and Test Engineers to understand customer requirements and provide innovative solutions. Requirements Analysis / Decomposition. Systems Design. Model‑based Development System Design. Systems Integration. Systems Validation & Verification. Customer Interaction. Project Oversight / Coordination. Stay updated with the latest advancements in software engineering practices, TCAS, and airborne Avionics technologies. Mandatory Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics. Experience with software development tools, version control systems, and continuous integration/deployment pipelines. Ability to manage project risks and implement mitigation strategies effectively. Preferred Qualifications Experience working with Defense customers. 1 year of Systems Engineering experience. Lab experience. Experience in similar product domains (Avionics, Navigation and/or Airborne Surveillance such as TCAS, Transponder, ADS‑B, DME, UAT). Competence to convey complex messages clearly. Experience with RF products. Experience with the FAA certification process. Ability to analyze, incorporate and apply new information quickly. Self‑motivated, proactive, able to work with little supervision. Team building and collaboration skills. Multi‑tasking and adaptability to project changes.
