Registered Nurse Operating Room

Job Summary:


The Registered Nurse in the Operating Room is responsible for providing skilled nursing care in a fast-paced acute care hospital environment. This role involves patient assessments, medication administration, treatment planning, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes in surgical settings. The nurse must demonstrate strong communication and teamwork skills, with a minimum of two years of relevant experience required.

Responsibilities:

• Provide skilled nursing care to patients in the Operating Room.
• Perform patient assessments and administer medications as prescribed.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
• Collaborate effectively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation using Epic charting system.
• Ensure adherence to infection control and safety protocols.
• Participate in on-call rotations to provide after-hours coverage.
• Assist in patient preparation and monitoring during surgical procedures.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active Registered Nurse license in the state of employment.
• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, preferably in surgical or acute care settings.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
• Strong clinical assessment, medication administration, and treatment planning skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field.
• Driver's license, car insurance, and reliable automobile for field work if required.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience in Operating Room nursing or related specialty areas (e.g., ICU, ER, PACU).
• Familiarity with Epic electronic medical record system.
• Additional certifications related to perioperative nursing (e.g., CNOR) are advantageous.

Special Considerations:

• On-call requirements include 2 primary weekday calls (2230-0600) and 2 secondary weekday calls (2230-0600) within a 6-week call cycle.
• On-call weekend coverage includes 2 primary and 2 secondary calls, each lasting 12 hours (0630-1900 or 1830-0600) on Saturday or Sunday.
• Return to Office (RTO) policies must be included at the time of submission.
• First-time nurses are not accepted for this position.
• Pending licenses are not accepted; active licensure is required.

Scheduling:

• Shift assignments include day and night shifts in the Operating Room, with scheduling at manager discretion.
• Block scheduling accommodations may be considered based on managerial approval.
• Guaranteed hours with the possibility of being called off once per two-week pay period.
